ABOUT CRUMB CULT

Crumbcult started with a love for baking and a dream to one day open a bakery of my own. Two years ago, I fell into the world of sourdough - experimenting, learning, baking every other week, chasing that perfect loaf.

The turning point came at a local Strawberry Feast in Gozo, Malta, where my sourdough bread sold out in just one hour. Everything else flew off the table too. That day lit the spark and Crumbcult was born. What began as a personal passion is now a small bakery built on care, craft, and the joy of sharing honest bread.

  • Sourdough bread is naturally fermented, it rises thanks to a wild starter - a fermented mixture of flour and water full of natural yeasts and bacteria. This slow fermentation gives sourdough its signature tangy flavor, deep aroma, and a chewy, open crumb. It’s also easier to digest for many people, and often has a longer shelf life. Regular bread, on the other hand, usually relies on store-bought yeast and a much quicker rise, which creates a milder taste and softer texture.

  • Orders can be placed through the website. Once confirmed, you’ll receive pickup details via email.

  • Currently, it is a pickup only bakery. If you would like delivery, please get in touch via socials and we can arrange via Bolt etc.

  • Pickups are from Mosta (close to Pama Supermarket). Exact address is given via email when your baked goods are ready to be picked up!

  • Each loaf is made with simple, quality ingredients: flour, water, salt, and my 3 year old sourdough starter - no additives

  • All bread is vegan, except for the jalapeño & cheddar loaf. None of the products are gluten-free.

  • Keep your bread wrapped in a linen cloth or tea towel. Never in plastic or sealed containers. Avoid the fridge.

  • Yes! Send us an email with your request and we'll sort out the details.

  • Sourdough has a lower glycemic index than many regular breads, which means it cause a slower rise in blood sugar. However, it still contains carbohydrates, so it’s important for people with diabetes to enjoy it in moderation and preferably the wholegrain options.
